First Venture

Few experiences in wildlife photography are as rewarding as spending time near an active fox den and watching the personalities of the kits begin to emerge. This young red fox had ventured beyond the security of the den, carefully exploring the rocks and vegetation of a world that was still completely new. Every few steps brought another discovery, another scent, another reason to stop and investigate. I kept my distance and followed the kit through my lens as it climbed onto the rocks and briefly paused, giving me this wonderful glimpse into those first days of independence. First Venture captures that fleeting stage of wild childhood when curiosity begins to overcome caution and a young fox takes its first small steps into a much larger world.
